Stage 1 – Photoshop
I set out offering a range of poses for the snow leopard, chosen three can be seen below.
Stage 2 – Illustrator
I then moved on to transferring the chosen sketch into vector. Starting with tracing the concept and filling in with solid colours.
Stage 3 – Illustrator
Now we come to add in the detail work using illustrator. I knew I was running a final pass through Photoshop so I kept the detail pretty minimal, adding rough texture to the fangs, highlights to the body, head and tail.
Stage 4 – Back to Photoshop
After Illustrator I took the image back into Photoshop to add the final details such as whiskers, spot detail and eye highlights.

Could you do a tutorial on going about creating an image like this? Did you base it on something or just from your head?

@Peter: After your comments I have added a couple of stages to show how I went about creating the Leopard. Hope you enjoy!

cool stuff, very simple. I usually hesitate when it comes to drawing, not that i cant draw, but this motivates me to do more of that.
Concerning the whiskers, you could have still done that in illustrator by creating a custom brush….in fact the Photoshop stuff could all have been done in Illustrator. I think its much more effective that way, so it can all be coupled under one scalable vector file. Regardless still nice.
